So… i’m ill again.

My slight sniffle i had whilst venturing to the land of the pearly kings and queens has turned into a full blown sinus head cold. I never knew i had a sinus tract within my eyebrow above my left eye. But apparently this week i do.
Couple that with general “off world” feeling and a nice tacky chewing gum producing hack cough and you pretty much got it. Over the weekend whilst mowing the lawn and trying to work through the pain, i was seeing things move out of the corner of my eyes! Must be those little elves Mr Beefheart has been blogging about recently.

So appologies for not Blogging sooner - i know you all missed me - but i have been busy. Busy pretending to be too ill to make it when the wife flashes me the international symbol for “Tea?”

And too busy wallowing in snot at work getting a small amount of sympathy from the customers as i bubble and dribble into my handset.

I have been looking for somewhere to have my kids 6th birthday party too. Times getting on and at the moment, procrastination is not paying off. You just don’t seem to get many kids party places advertising on the Internet. Then again, hiring a clown might be quite interesting or some sort of magician. I bet he could disappear the cash in my iPod fund pretty quick!

I did find this place though. I bet it would be one hell of a party!

I am trying to steer clear of linking to sites which i have found by reading posts on other peoples blogs but this is real Friday lunchtime quality.

Xbox 360 Unleashed at last

by taoski on May 13, 2005

I know you have all been gagging for more information about the new XBox after i posted my design mock up a few weeks ago.

Last night in the US the new XBox was showed off on MTV hosted by Frodo Baggins himself. The specs on the unit sound amazing! A HDTV compatible console with Three watercooled 3.2ghz processors! Who would have thought it!

Anyway, to check the full spec and a run down of some of the important science bits see the details over at XBOX-Scene, Kotaku, or the official site XBox360.com (which has some great pics).

The show airs in the UK on MTV tonight at 8pm. Or you can just download it from any good torrent site you can find!

Tonights winnings

by taoski on May 11, 2005

Just finished playing a game over at PartyPoker and for once i came out with alot more than i entered with! I was reading that you should be folding before the flop on average about 80% of the time. When putting this into practice it does pay dividends. Also the fact tha you are using play money allows you to be a little more adventurous too - hoping that the card you need will be drawn whilst others around you are raising higher and higher.

Basically - unless there was a high card - ten, king, queen, jack or ace in my dealt cards then i was folding. Often waiting to play the better hands is the best idea. Then again, that rule does not always apply.

Here is the transcript of one of my best winning hands from tonight:

Awright Dino-Geeza!

Ello Darlin…PAT!
Originally uploaded by Taoski.

Took the trouble and strife and street urcins down to Laandaan on the train yesterday to see the pearly kings and queens and visit the mother in law at the Natural History Museum.

It’s well worth a visit - if you like spending hours looking at old bones, stuffed birds and creepy crawlies. Very similar to a night out at the local Nightclub! The moving 15 foot long T-Rex and other animatronic dinosaurs scared the pants off my youngest who shook, hid his face and asked to “walk past” until i moved. Thats what happens with kids sometimes. You spend so much time making sure they are ok that you miss alot of the exhibition yourself. I remember the same thing happened at the Witchcraft Museum at Boscastle. We only had one child then but he ran round at such a rate and was crashing into everything and i never got to see any of the displays!

The only thing that let the day down was the cost of the lunch at one of the museums cafes. As usual the wife spotted the most expensive item on the menu and we ended up paying £21 for 2 adults and 2 kids to eat! There is a picnic area there - so next time i will be taking a packed lunch for us all.

We also ventured into the Earth museum next door which has an escalator which takes you up into the center of a globe. It was well impressive! Lots of nice rocks to feel and an earthquake simulator which was good although a little tame.

As my youngest is also obsessed with Thomas The Tank Engine and anything to do with trains, he was in his element on the journey to an from Euston. He is now obsessed with Underground Trains too although i would think that being crushed by all those incosiderate bastards on the Victoria line during the rush hour would put anyone off let alone a 3 year old! He was chirping away happily about trucks and freight cars on the packed commuter train on the way home. He even managed to crack a smile from some of the other passengers when he announced that Leighton Buzzard was a funny name for the station. Bless. I used to hate noisy kids when i was a train commuter but i have no excuse now!

Looks like i got a proper train spotter in the making!

Not content with passing its MOT with flying colours my Fiat Punto, alias “The Green Machine”, decided to get its own back on me for suggesting that i was going to sell her as we only really use one car 95% of the time. And since i only bought 6 months Car Tax for her too the signs were obvious.

On the run back from Birmingham on Friday she started sounding like Mr flatulent on his Baked Beans and cabbage only diet. Yes, the exhaust has blown! It does not even sound good like i spashed out on a straight through upgrade and Pimped my ride! It farts like a vegetarian wind farm and has less “go” than a wife after 10 years of marrige and several kids.

And to top it off, when i arrived home in the pouring rain and bent down to check underneath to make sure the bloody thing was not going to fall off any second, i heard a “sssssssSSSS” and noticed a screw embedded in the rear offside tyre too.

So to recap… I’m chipper.

And now even more poor than i thought i was…

Holdem…. cough….

Just came across this website that gives the best instructions for playing Texas Holdem that i have seen for free on the net so far.

It also has some sections on tactics and tips too like not raising before the flop, betting on the river and maintaining an erection.

I am off to buy a texas holdem poker set from my local Argos tonight on my way home. The best bit is that again procrastination has paid dividends. I saw this recently at Amazon and a local shop for £20. Argos have it reduced to £12.99! I have reserved my copy too! Last one in the shop.

I will report back on my winning streak!

Now that schools have an email account for every student and the ones i know seem to have more friends on their MSN list than i have friends in real life, i expect that the images have achieved 100% saturation by now. You can guarantee that someone will also have printed the images and stuck them up on noticeboards around the school too. Thats what would have happened in my day.

I wonder if she will resign or be pushed? Or should her private life stay private? Surely the embarrasment is punishment enough.

Open Wide…. wider!

Open Wide
Originally uploaded by Taoski.

Since the age of 20 when i had to have 8 fillings in my teeth i have been picking up radio signals from an alien craft which hides on the dark side of the moon. The attack is immenant but they are biding their time - for now.

My dentist is obviously blind.

When i went for my 6 month checkup yesterday he did not find anything wrong (as usual) and only gave me a scale and polish - same as last time. He is obviously “in league with the greys” and has been brainwashed to ignore my insane ramblings.

His new dental assistant turned out to be a young blonde with pretty eyes who gave my tounge the softest of sucking actions with her saliva hoover. Our eyes met a few times as the dentist was rubbing his orthadental paste into my molars. She smiled back, winked and fish-hooked my mouth open a little wider to suck me dry.

I left feeling purged and clean and less flush with cash but also a little dirty and aroused. Good job i only get to see her every six months. Then again… i know where she lives..

Sleep, those little slices of death…

Its going to be a hard day today.

After working on PCs for 8 hours solid (with no break!) yesterday i then went home and managed to put in another 2 hours on the PC at home. Today my brain has turned to mush, my legs have a sleepy “rushing” feeling and my eyes feel as bad as they look.

Coffee has been ordered and drunk but i keep feeling myself drawn back to check blog comments and postings rather than do any work.

I once read a story about a man who was going to spend a week only communicating via the Internet. Locked away in his house his only contact with the outside world would be via his website, blog and email. I used to think that this would be an interesting experiment to carry out. But maybe i need to do the reverse.

On a lighter note… i got the new Oasis album off the torrents. A month before the full release! Nice.
