An iPad dock or display stand will allow you to easily keep your iPad upright and in full view in the corner of the room, on your desk or in your kitchen. Being able to stand the iPad up will allow you to use it as a digital photo frame, an interactive display or status panel or for reading recipes whilst you are cooking a great family meal.
Many of the display stands are just simple plastic, wood or metal and allow you to prop up the pad at a certain angle, but there are docks that can be adjusted to any angle, contain a connected AC adapter to power the iPad or even a set of built in speakers to help you blast out your iPod tunes. There is also the Apple branded iPad dock that has a build in keyboard.
I foresee the device being used as some sort of docked interface to your calendar, diary, address book and notifications device. An iPad dock/display stand would allow you to keep your iPad in full view whilst information was streamed or displayed, such as weather reports, breaking news stories or twitter messages. A dock will let you do all of that, with ease.
