No… not the average film that kind of signaled the downturn in of the career of one of our better comedy writers and actors.
I mean I have started running again!
Like Damo, I have started on the couch-to-5k in 6 weeks plan and am currently at the run for 5 minutes, walk for 5 minutes stage. I can complete 15 minutes of running in total at the moment which, with 15 minutes of walking takes me to about 2.5 miles in total with 1.5 of that as the running portion.
I am already pleasantly pleased with my achievements and have bought myself a pair of Nike Running Shoes as my other Nike trainers were way off the mark for a set of running shoes. I am already feeling that the first 5 minutes goes very easily and I could push on for a few more - but I am not pushing myself at the moment. I am a fat slob - and I need to take it slowly.
I am already looking at getting a Belkin iPhone Sports Armband as I use my iPhone to time my running/walking - but would also love to get the Nike Plus sports kit or a Garmin Forerunner GPS watch to track where I go and time my runs properly.
But thats all too much too soon. Typical me. Getting stuff before I am properly into it.
All I need is my shoes and a bottle of water and thats it. That’s one of the things I like about running. No hassle getting the bike out of the shed or the tension of going to the gym just because I have paid the joining fees up front.
I just need to find a good stretching routine now.
I will let you know how I get on.
Well, it's not a giant lizard slaying robot and its not a new religion.

The wierd thing is, I can run along to the Podcast on a treadmill for 20 - 30 minutes; I can cross train for another 20 - 30 minutes.
Try waliking for 20 minutes on ‘normal’ ground and my knee decides it’s had enough
More time in the gym me thinks - I need to build my Quadriceps andmaybe just maybe I’ll do a 5k run.
I used to run on the treadmill in the Gym at work without many issues.
The first time I did I ran a mile easily - and worked up to running 3 miles once too. When I went out into the real world I failed miserably and was limping back within 5 mins.
This time I am sticking with the outdoors seeing as I don’t have access to a Gym. Running on the treadmill will be good practice and build up your stamina though.
I think it’s fab you are both out in the real world exercising, and not simply “thumbing” your lives away on some games controller.
I nearly fell off my chair today, as fat boy Rob commuted in to work on his bike!
If you are running, then the best proper running shoes are a must. Tracey has been walking the 3 miles a day to work for 2 years now, and she now has Plantar Fasciitis. Cause? Shit footware. She has just had to shell out £70 on some proper gel running shoes, and will need to wear a foot splint to sleep in to hopefully cure it.
I am indeed back on my bike on days where god hasn’t left the shower on, so not many in the last couple of weeks, but it’s a start. I’m also back playing football once a week which is leaving me knackered, and a lack of warm-up last week meant the agony of a pulled muscle but as it’s something I enjoy (the footie not the agony) I have the incentive to continue.
This running malarkey has certainly piqued my interest though and I may have a closer look at Damo’s program, especially if it’s an excuse to buy some new stuff!
PS: I quite enjoyed the film “Run, Fat Boy, Run”. I am a sucker for a rom-com though.
I do like running…
Plus, I have seen this now too:

Me want!
My new Nike shoes have the little hidy-hole for the Nike+ thing too!
Correction - that link should have been:

Good on ya !
Thanks matey! You are part of my inspiration too (apart from Jesus, Yoda and Steve Jobs)…
Any tips you can pass on to a “Running Padawan”?
Once you have done your 5k you can start this: http://hundredpushups.com/
@Mat I was reading that the other day after Dad mentioned that you might be doing it.
I would love to be able to do that - but my shoulders are totally screwed after over doing it when I played Dodgeball. I bet I can’t even manage one pushup!
